We believe that early childhood is a unique period of life that deserves respect, guidance, nurture and time. This is the time in a child’s life that their relationship to the world is physical and his/her ability to learn lies in play and imitation. Teachers create an environment that nourishes the senses; between artistic and practical work and active outdoor play, children build the pre-acedemic skills that become foundational for formal learning in the grades.
Children in the grade school are ideally taught by the same teacher throughout their eight years which allows the teacher to learn and build on the strengths of each passing year and structure lessons which enhance the learning styles and nurture the unique potential of each student. Children are taught science, math, reading and writing alongside music, art, movement, foreign language, nature and outdoor play. This multi-sensory approach gives children the opportunity to learn through a wide variety of experiences.
