CLASS OF 2006

SADIE ABLER A graduate of Catholic Memorial High School, attended UW-Stevens Point and currently working toward her Masters in Art Therapy at Mount Mary. During her high school career, Sadie played on the rugby team, which placed 3rd in the Midwest Regional. Sadie was selected to paint a mural depicting life in Puerto Rico.

“In portraying the culture and atmosphere of Puerto Rico, I wanted to convey their colorful and almost magical land through the colors I chose and the objects I painted. I chose to include El Morro in the painting because it displays a large part of recognizable Puerto Rican history. I also chose to include some of their houses in the painting. I thought they were truly beautiful, using all the colors of the rainbow. The focal point of my painting is a traditional Vejiante mask. They are worn during carnivals throughout the year, and display a unique aspect of Puerto Rican culture that immediately transports you into a magical world.” – Sadie Abler
