Goodbye Summer – Hello Spanish!

fire

Ready or not school has started for the 2014-15 year. While, on one hand, I’m happy that school has started,  I would like summer to last just a little bit longer. This past summer was very busy at the school with 9 weeks of Summer Camp and Summer Garden. The school was alive and active with all of the smiling faces. I’m still in that summer mode.

This past Saturday my youngest had 5 friends sleep over. They created a wonderful camp fire to roast marshmallows and make the perfect s’more. It was fun to watch and “supervise “ those wild boys outside. They found it hard to sit and enjoy the fire and instead wanted to run and play games in the dark, which is what kids do. Then it got a little chilly and they wandered in the house. I overheard them talking about their Spanish homework and how they all wanted to get started on that together –that night. I thought to myself “go back out there –  summer is not over yet!”, but they had had enough and were ready to settle in for the night.

I sat outside in the quiet watching the fire alone as I had not had enough yet.
