Alanna is a Waldorf “lifer,” the daughter of two Waldorf teachers, and a wholehearted advocate of Steiner’s early childhood philosophies. Since her first babysitting job, Alanna has spent virtually all of her professional life immersed in childcare in one form or another, and feels that children should be given a natural environment in which to not only cultivate their own direct knowledge of the world around them, but also to retain their sense of wonderment and creativity. She feels that the emphasis in Waldorf is to educate the whole child through its diverse curriculum, and that those fortunate enough to attend a Waldorf school are at an advantage both in their ability to confront the challenges of life, as well as in their capacity for self-knowledge.
Alanna’s prior work experience includes, full time nanny for special needs child, Assistant Teacher in two Montessori schools, one in Missoula, Montana and one here in Pewaukee . She also has worked as a Camp Counselor for the Waldorf Early Childhood Center in Seattle Washington.
Alanna has received a certificate in Anthropology from the Association of Gnostic Anthropology. She loves music and singing, and is excited to be able to share that through leading the chorus group this year in addition to her role as the aftercare teacher.
